Opus Energy smashes fundraising targets for Mencap and Rainbows

Opus Energy is delighted to announce another successful year of charity fundraising. The company continued to offer support to Mencap and Rainbows Hospice during the 2013/2014 financial year, with £23,770 and £6,175 being raised for the two charities respectively. This exceeded the £20,000 and £5,000 targets employees set themselves and is reflective of an action-packed and lively year of fundraising efforts. From sky diving and marathons to live music concerts and quizzes, last year saw a wide variety of fundraising activities in which all employees could get involved. Office-based fundraising also proved popular with a whole range of fun activities including Bake Offs, Man vs. Food challenges and Halloween fancy dress. Andy Nash, Operations Director of Opus Energy, commented: “We could not have achieved this goal without the dedication and support of our entire organisation. Our employees have really enjoyed supporting Mencap and Rainbows and we look forward to continuing our efforts in 2014/15.” In addition to fundraising, 2013/14 was a successful year in terms of volunteering, and many Opus Energy employees spent a day volunteering for local charity Rainbows Hospice. This has provided an invaluable opportunity for many to see the work Rainbows do first hand, as well as offer their support in helping the Rainbows team in their own fundraising efforts. Louise Harris, who volunteered for Rainbows Hospice last year, commented: “I really enjoyed the day at Rainbows; it’s such a wonderful place that does so much good for the local and surrounding areas. The tour of the facilities was really eye-opening and helped us to understand how we were contributing to help keep it going.” For the 2014/2015 fundraising year, Opus Energy has again pledged to raise £20,000 for Mencap and £5,000 for Rainbows.
