OEM Prepare for Kilimanjaro

25-03-2015

OEM staff prepare to Climb Kilimanjaro in Aid of Charity! Two members our staff from OEM Diesel Products, will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Rebecca’s Rainbow Heart Ebstein’s Anomaly Trust. OEM Managing Director, Barry Park, and Business Support Executive, Marc Currie, are currently in training to prepare them for their ascent up Africa’s highest peak in February 2015. The duo initially planned to complete a trek across the Jordan desert, but felt they wanted to set themselves a harder challenge to demonstrate their commitment to charity. OEM has paid the registration fees and flights to allow Barry and Marc to take part in the grueling challenge, and the men now each aim to raise £10,000 for the charity, which has been set-up to help local youngster Rebecca Gibson who suffers from a rare heart condition called Ebstein’s Anomaly. The specialist company, which was founded in 2012 to provide a single point of contact for clients sourcing engine services or spare parts, also backs a number of youth initiatives in Aberdeen, and sponsors local football teams and a judo club allowing them to purchase training equipment, pay for local facilities and buy new kits. Barry said: “The firm positively encourages and supports staff to get involved in activities for charities and local community intitatives, and we decided that climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was a fantastic way of demonstrating how hard we work to support the local community.” If you would like to provide sponsorship for OEM’s charity challenge, contact Barry Park on 01224 857999.
