The greater the tension in the rope or cable, the greater the force that is applied to the object, and the easier it will be to lift. SPEED & POWER Many winches will feature variable speed control which, as the name suggests, allows the user to adjust the output speed of the motor. As is the case with most machinery of this kind, speed and power are inversely related. In other words, the more power you need, the lower the speed setting you should use.
