In rental properties, the rate at which spare keys are not reclaimed is at the highest: 7% of tenants don't return spare keys when they move on! These unreturned spare keys are sitting in the pockets of many people: the main recipients 73% of spare keys from most householders are given to family members; 14% go to neighbours; and 8% give spare keys to their friends.
