Often the Permanent Magnet component is part of a more complex product. All the magnetic materials with their various performance advantages can either be held in position to perform a function or put in ferrous circuits to focus or concentrate magnetic flux.

An example of flux concentration is Pot Magnets, where putting a magnet in a mild steel cup , not only protects the magnet and allows easy fixing, but also increases the magnetic pull 5 fold compared to a similar sized plain magnet.
