PGF-30 Gas Interlock, Ventilation Interlock and Gas Detection Systems
Gas Interlock, Ventilation Interlock and Gas Detection Systems PGF-30 Gas Interlock, Ventilation Interlock and Gas Detection Systems from IGD are a modular solution for kitchen gas safety. At the heart of the system is the PGF-30 controller itself. The gas interlock control panel/ventilation interlock control panel and its supplied pressure transmitter are used to control the gas supply to the kitchen via a gas solenoid valve. PGF-30 is a modular solution for commercial kitchen gas safety designed to meet the requirements of the latest IGEM gas safety standards. How does the PGF 30 gas interlock control panel/ventilation interlock control panel work? The controller ‘proves’ the integrity of the downstream kitchen gas supply by introducing a small amount of gas and then monitoring the pressure to ‘prove’ the system is leak tight. When the gas interlock control panel determines all is well, the main supply is switched on. Should the pressure fall then the system will alert to check for leaks (open gas taps etc). PGF-30 uses a pressure transducer to directly measure the kitchen gas pressure and does not use more common pressure switches Reading back the actual pressure has a number of advantages: - On installation PGF-30 can ‘learn’ the system automatically with no need for time consuming engineer adjustments, improving performance by reducing errors. - As pressure is directly measured in milli-Bars the system can also alarm on low running pressure, adding extra levels of safety. - Proving time is also reduced whilst providing better leak detection sensitivity. PGF-30 can also be interlocked with the kitchen ventilation system using IGD’s own ventilation flow sensor. The sensor directly measures airflow in the ducting providing excellent reliability and with none of the problems associated with pressure switches and current monitors. PGF-30 has a built in emergency stop switch and a key switch to prevent unintended operation. Additional Emergency stop switches can be easily added. PGF-30 uses IGD’s latest addressable technology. This means additional sensors for CO2, Carbon Monoxide or Fuel gas leak detection can be easily added to the same gas proving control panel(PGF-30). PGF-30 is a comprehensive gas safety solution that can be scaled to the demands of each individual kitchen installation. It is a requirement for all new commercial kitchens to have ventilation interlocks fitted to ensure ventilation is active before gas supplies are switched on. These standards are very prescriptive defining the use of gas interlock systems, gas detection and ventilation interlock systems. However just a ventilation interlock is not enough. Ventilation can fail at any moment resulting in termination of the gas supply. Any burner appliance that does not have a flame failure device fitted can result in a potentially open gas line. According to IGEM UP1a edition 2 “Where a “safety shut off valve has been automatically closed, before it can be re-opened, if there is any reasonable chance that the pressure has been lost on the downstream side, a tightness test should be performed before the valve is re-opened”. Unless the operator plans a Gas Safe engineer visit this requires a system capable of automatically performing this function.
